While you might find many catteries that have multiple Queens and Sires in order to produce as many litters as possible. At Meow Genes we use a different breeding philosophy, focused on providing the ultimate health, care, temperament and quality for our kittens. We believe in Quality over Quantity. We select the most ideal British Shorthair Male and Female and match them together when they are young, and have them grow together and become a loving and inseparable Kitty power couple, passing down their temperament to their kittens. The Mom and Dad also happen to be a testament to their breed in regards to their own genetic lineage. Having a single litter at a time ensures that every kitten is receiving the best environment to grow and flourish, and will join your family ready to change and nourish your life for the better!

We chose our cats to be the best of the best as our own pets first, before breeding them. As we want those traits to be what our clients get with their own pets.

It all starts with the right breeder, and as cat lovers ourselves, we have gone through what you have, we know what you are looking for, and even more importantly, what you might miss. When you join Meow Genes and get a kitten from us, it is not a simple one-off transaction, we will be there with you every step of the way. The round face, those chubby cheeks, that loving personality, just a few of the many things that make a British Shorthair special. British Shorthairs come in a wide range of stunning colors that are absolutely eye catching. They are commonly referred to as 'Teddy Bears' but at Meow Genes we like to call Princess a 'Loin' look alike, and Coco Puff a 'Grizzly Bear' look alike, just to make them feel like we take them seriously. They are balls of pure fluff and squishiness that we cant stop annoying with our kisses!
The British Shorthair grows to be a bigger cat, super chubby looking and thick. That chunky look is what makes them stand out so much and make you want to play with them all the time. Their short hair makes them look so radiant when they walk by and only enhances that round look. They tend to have a life expectancy of up to 15 years on average.
British Shorthairs are very relaxed, easy going cats. They love to just sit near you and sleep. They tend to be less destructive in the house and really great and patient with children as they are affectionate and smart cats. However they do not like to be carried (just ask Coco Puff) but they will keep following you around the house just to be next to you. British Shorthairs also get along great with other animals like dogs and birds. Since the breed is so relaxed, you don't have to worry about leaving them at home alone all day, they will just sleep and wont mind sitting there until you come back. They are very easy cats to take care of, requiring low levels of exercise, low levels of grooming and a live a healthy life.
